The Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) is a national organisation dedicated to the achievement of full social, economic and educational integration of people with physical disabilities as equal, independent and participative members of the community.
The Association was founded in 1960 by a small group of wheelchair users committed to improving the lives of people with physical disabilities in Ireland . Since then, IWA has gone on to become an important provider of quality services to people with physical disabilities throughout the country.
The Associations' wide range of services promotes quality of life for people with disabilities in Ireland . Driven by the needs of their 20,000 members, IWA is constantly developing and piloting new concepts of service delivery. In all areas of service provision, the Association is committed to developing and adhering to standards of best practice. Services and programmes include: Assisted Living Services,Resource & Outreach Centres (ROCs),Independent Living Apartments,Motoring Advice, Assessment and Tuition,Training & Education,Sport,Holidays and Youth Services.
